On Monday, as Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency project backed by him, announced significant strategic investments in digital assets, including Ethereum (ETH) and Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC).
What Happened:
In a post on X, the decentralized finance (DeFi) platform revealed that it had purchased $47 million worth of both Ethereum and Wrapped Bitcoin, a tokenized version of Bitcoin designed to operate on the Ethereum blockchain.
With this latest acquisition, World Liberty Financial’s total Ethereum holdings have surged to 57,115 ETH, valued at over $185 million at the current market price, according to blockchain analytics firm Arkham. Wrapped Bitcoin now stands as the platform’s second-largest holding.
